Just a day before the 54th Annual Grammy Awards event, a music icon, Whitney Houston, who was planning to attend the show was found dead in her Los Angeles hotel room. In spite of that tragedy, the most prestigious awards night in the US music industry went on as planned on February 12th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. However, the producers immediately secured Jennifer Hudson to render a befitting tribute performance to the departed singer.
A Bruce Springsteen’s performance marked the opening of the awards show, followed by a prayer by the host, LL Cool J, for Whitney.
Adele who got six nominations won all of them. With these, she has matched the record previously held alone by Beyoncé as a female artist with most wins in a single night. Foo Fighters went home with five awards, while Kanye West received four.
Days after the Grammy Awards, stars and ordinary citizens continue to pay tribute to Whitney Houston.
