The name of the Luxury champagne was derived from a Benedictine monk who at that time was among the most important wine making pioneers. Dom Perignon was a Benedictine Abbey monk who was the first person to brew the best of grapes in a way that so much overcame numerous imperfections at that time, and hence, drastically improve the over-all quality. He was also credited for introducing bottle corks and the use of thicker glass on champagne bottles.
