The 250 Ferrari GTO has just been sold in a private transaction for $35 million dollars. This car from 1962 was made for racecar driver Stirling Moss, is now considered the most expensive car in the world.
The car was sold by the Dutch businessman Eric Heerema, who owns the Nyetimber vineyard in Sussex. The car was purchased by Craig McCaw, co-founder of McCaw Cellular.
The mint colored car, considered as the most desirable of classic Ferraris by collector, won the 1958 Le Mans race, driven by the U.S. driver Phill Hill. The car was previously owned by Yoshiho Matsuda, a Japanese collector who purchased it for $8.5 million.
