Creative Director, Sarah Burton, brings a new collection celebrating the feminine figure with silk, cages, corsets, crinolines and honeycomb patterns everywhere.
Inspired in the glorification of the female shape, she created a collection that’s all about femininity and lightness. Fabrics such as lace, patent leather, honeycomb mesh and jacquard and silk organza are everywhere. Some parts of the body are covered, while others are showing, very discreetly.
The brand’s signature tailored jackets served as layer over beautiful bustier tops paired with pencil skirts or cropped trousers. Ball gowns accentuated the hips and waists of the models that resembled those of the 19th Century were modernized with decorations of flower blooms and bees, or had transparent skirts or bust-lines that revealed the arrangements underneath.
In the words of Ms. Burton: “The collection is a study of femininity. We looked at erotica. Vargas girls, cages, corsets and crinolines and the idealization of the female form. Nothing is set in a particular period. It’s about sensuality and skin but not nudity. We also wanted to express lightness, for the clothes almost to hover over the women who wear them.”
