American fashion designer Marc Jacobs will put out for rent on March 1st his impressive 2,476 square ft. loft on 40 Mercer Street, SoHo district, for only $37,500 a month.
The condo is fully furnished and inside a 14-story building that was named after the street and built by Andre Balazs, a famed hotel visionaire and architect Jean Nouvel. The residence features three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, a powder room, floor-to-ceiling windows, kitchen and custom-designed lighting and cabinets. The building has 24-hour doorman, concierge service, pool, sauna, whirpool, state-of-the-art fitness center, underground parking, a courtyard and a rooftop terrace.
Marc Jabocs, now creative director of Diet Coke, resides mostly in France, but will now move back to his West Villlage townhouse. Some might be overwhelmed by the $37,500 per month fee, but this is quite the standard price for renting any celebrity home in the United States. Some examples are Kate Winslet’s apartment in Chelsea, with a rent fee of $30,000 a month, or Frank Gehry’s penthouse in New York for $60,000 per month.
