Inspired by the intricate patterns on Henri d’Origny’s Hermès Silk Carré, created back in 1972, this timepiece is proof of the French house’s love for exquisite design and workmanship.
The Hermès Volute Pocket Watch is not only beautiful in its design, but also in its technology. Measuring 48mm wide, it is equipped with a hand wound Voucher H1928 movement with a power reserve of up to fifty five hours. It has a frequency of 4Hz and its movement has thirty-two jewels that indicate hours and minutes. It is protected with sapphire crystal covering to prevent glare and is water resistant.
The stunning timepiece was fabricated using a ramolayage technique, with engraving on each scroll of 750-grade white gold, giving it a finishing touch of different volumes. The carving around the metal is specially designed to reflect light and then the white gold areas are hammered to create a contrast between surfaces. Finally, the timepiece is dipped in ruthenium to reveal the three different shades of metal in the design.
A definite must for anyone who appreciates art and craftsmanship in the shape of luxurious timepieces.
